Our large-sized lady's-slippers are plants that were collected
in Minnesota. The collector receivers a permit from the highway
department to collect from areas that are going to be paved. We
will provide permit information upon request.
The small-sized lady's-slippers are nursery propogated by tissue
culture. Because they are small, great caution must be taken if
they are planted directly outdoors. They must be protected
from drying out and from pests. Instructions will be sent on how
to pot the plants if you would like to grow them for a year before
planting out.
To thrive, lady's-slipper, like most of the woodland wildflowers,
require rich, well-aerated soil and part shade. A mix of loam, humus,
and sand may be used to enrich your beds.
