Common at the tideline where it forms large standsLeaves c 1 mm wide.  Plant typically 25-30 cm high. Leaves flattened, solid, not divided internally into compartments. Tepals dark brown and equal in length to nut.  Lowest bract well short of stem tip. Flower-cluster at tip of stem typically remote from lower ones. Inflorescence branches near vertical.
